The Latest: California fire stopped, evacuations cancelled

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — The Latest on Southern California brush fire (all times local):
3:50 p.m.
Firefighters have stopped the spread of a brushfire that caused the evacuation of a Southern California university.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department says Wednesday’s fire has been held to 5 acres in Santa Clarita, northwest of Los Angeles.
The department tweets that there are no injuries.
The Master’s University, a private liberal arts school, was briefly evacuated but the evacuation has been cancelled.

A Southern California campus is being evacuated because of a brush fire.
The fire is burning Wednesday near The Master’s University in Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Austin Bennett says the first fire engine reached the campus at 1 p.m. and assigned a structure protection group.
Bennett says he can’t confirm how close the fire is to the school.
The fire currently is at 3 acres (1.2 hectares).
