Turkey says Turkish and Russian foreign minister will meet in Belgrade today

By The Associated Press

ANKARA, Turkey – Turkey’s Foreign Ministry says the Turkish and Russian foreign ministers will meet on the sidelines of an Organization for Security and Cooperation meeting in the Serbian capital Belgrade.

The meeting would be the first between senior Turkish officials since Turkey downed a Russian plane near its border with Syria, touching off a crisis between the two countries that previously enjoyed warm ties.

A ministry official said the meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Turkey’s Mevlut Cavusoglu was scheduled for 3.30 pm local time.
