Nova Scotia kayaker named to Team Canada just in time for Rio 2016

HALIFAX – A Nova Scotia kayaker is packing his bags for Brazil after he was added to Team Canada’s roster for the upcoming Rio Olympic games.

Ryan Cochrane and his partner were added to the kayak squad over the weekend when Canada was awarded two additional spots at the games after the suspension of some Russian athletes.

Cochrane tweeted yesterday that he never gave up.

Cochrane will compete in the K-2 200 metre event, the same distance he competed in at the London games in 2012 where he finished in 7th place.

Rio 2016 gets underway Friday.
