Discount airline suing local passenger rights advocate

HALIFAX – Discount airline NewLeaf Travel Company is taking legal action against a local air passenger’s rights advocate, accusing him of defamation, and citing attacks made by Gabor Lukacs against the company on social media.
In the statement of claim, NewLeaf alleges Lukacs used his Twitter account to publish false and malicious statements about the company and that the airline was operating illegally.
Lukacs responded to NEWS 95.7 Friday via email, saying he has not been personally been served with any court papers by NewLeaf, adding he’s troubled by what transpired,
He added he found out about it from the media.
Lukacs mentioned he spoke with NewLeaf’s lawyer earlier this week but the lawyer he spoke with made no mention of any lawsuit against him.
None of the statements made in the claim have been proven in court.
