Belleisle Farms coleslaw recalled over listeriosis fears

OTTAWA – A brand of coleslaw sold across the Maritimes is being recalled due to concerns about possible listeriosis.

Roy Pope and Sons of Belleisle Creek, N.B., is recalling Belleisle Farms brand coleslaw.

It comes in 227-gram packages with a best-before date of Aug. 19.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says anyone who has this product should throw it out or return it to the store where purchased.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.

Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. There are no reported illnesses linked to eating this coleslaw.
