Luongo looks to continue success against Flames

CALGARY (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks will try to build on the momentum from last Saturday’s big win over the Washington Capitals when they begin a six-game road trip in Calgary against the Flames tonight.  The Canucks are expected to ice the same roster that faced Washington including an eighth start of the year in goal for Roberto Luongo.

The Flames have had great goaltending from veteran Miikka Kiprusoff.  The Finn has won three of his last four starts.  Despite Saturday’s victory over Washington, Luongo ranks near the bottom of the NHL with a 3.54 GAA but is 7-0-2 in his last nine starts against Calgary.

The Canucks have actually had great success against their Northwest Division rivals in recent years.  They’ve beaten the Flames four straight times, outscoring Calgary 19-8 during those four wins.

Defenceman Aaron Rome is on the road trip but is not expected to be in the line-up tonight.  Rome hasn’t played this season after a finger injury in a September pre-season game.

The puck drops at 6:30 p.m.
