Newest Canuck David Booth meets teammates

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The newest Vancouver Canuck, David Booth practiced with his new teammates today at Rogers Arena.  The 26-year-old Detroit native, acquired in the weekend trade that sent winger Mikael Samuelsson and Marco Sturm to the Florida Panthers, was skating on the second line with Ryan Kesler and Chris Higgins.

The arrival of the one-time 31-goal scorer has pushed forward Cody Hodgson to the team’s third line with Manny Malhotra and Jannik Hansen.  Booth’s addition to the Kesler line creates an all-American line with the Michigan-born Kesler and New York native Higgins.

Booth, who wore number 10 in Florida will wear number seven with the Canucks, beginning with a Tuesday road game against the Edmonton Oilers.  That move has some people speculating the Canucks have plans for the number 10 jersey worn by Pavel Bure.

Booth’s best season was in 2008-09, when he had a career-high 31 goals.  The other player acquired from Florida in the Booth trade is forward Steven Reinprecht, who has been assigned to the Canucks’ farm team.
