OTTAWA – Canada’s national annual inflation rate was 2.8 per cent in August, Statistics Canada says. Here’s what happened in the provinces (previous month in brackets):

— Newfoundland and Labrador: 2.5 per cent (2.7)

— Prince Edward Island: 3.0 (3.4)

— Nova Scotia: 2.7 (2.7)

— New Brunswick: 2.6 (2.7)

— Quebec: 2.2 (2.4)

— Ontario: 3.1 (3.1)

— Manitoba: 2.9 (3.3)

— Saskatchewan: 2.2 (3.1)

— Alberta: 3.1 (3.5)

— British Columbia: 2.9 (3.3)
