Moncton murder suspect is armed and dangerous and still at large

Moncton – Police in Moncton continue to search for the man suspected of killing three RCMP members, and wounding two others.

Officers updated media Thursday morning on the manhunt for 24-year-old Justin Bourque.

“This is working through your worst nightmare,” said Roger Brown, commanding officer for the RCMP in New Brunswick, “And the only way to do this, is we collectively need to work together.”

Brown thanked the media and the citizens of Greater Moncton for their cooperation with the investigation.

“By not putting on social media the location of our officers, and speculating on the police operation, helped keep everyone safe,” he said.

Supt. Marlene Snowman, the head of the RCMP’s Codiac detachment in Moncton, said the suspect was spotted several times Thursday morning, but “results for apprehension have been negative.”

Snowman asked people in Moncton to stay indoors and stay calm, and praised her officers for their diligence.

“Our guys and gals are doing the very, very best that they possibly can, and have been doing exactly that for the last day or more,” she said, fighting back tears.

Snowman added that the two wounded officers were undergoing surgery, but are expected to recover.
