Three people killed in helicopter crash in B.C.; chopper was on training flight

TERRACE, B.C. – Three people have been killed in a helicopter crash that was on a training flight near Terrace, B.C.
Gerry Pash of the Victoria Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre said Friday the A-Star 350 helicopter was on a training mission when it went down on Sleeping Beauty Mountain.
The first sign of trouble came at 9 a.m., when the helicopter was out of contact, Pash said.
He said an electronic flight tracking system led a second helicopter to the area, about 20 kilometres west of Terrace, and a search and rescue worker was dropped off to hike to the site after noon.
“The weather in the area was poor,” Pash said.
The bodies have yet to be recovered.
The chopper was owned by Bailey Helicopters of Fort St. John, B.C.
The Transportation Safety Board and the RCMP will investigate the cause of the crash.
