No major storms expected to have big impact on Halifax anytime soon, meteorologist says

HALIFAX – It’s been a very busy hurricane season and Halifax has been untouched for the most part.

Environment Canada meteorologist Ian Hubbard says he doesn’t see that changing before the season ends.

Hubbard told the Rick Howe Show Monday night’s wind and rain were the remnants of Nate which diminished over land this past weekend.

He said the system is now weak and low centered over Northern New Brunswick and adds once it pushes through, will make way for fair weather for the remainder of the week.

According to Hubbard, several elements have come into play to make this a very active hurricane season including warm waters and low wind shear.

He said it’s been a very active season over the Atlantic Basin and adds our area has fared well, given the number of named hurricanes this year.
