Canada’s federal fisheries and transportation ministers are in New Brunswick today to address the North Atlantic right whale deaths in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Dominic LeBlanc and Marc Garneau are expected to announce new temporary measures to prevent further losses of the endangered species in Pointe-du-Chene.
LeBlanc recently encouraged fishermen to participate in the conservation effort by limiting the amount of rope they have in the water.
Ten of the endangered mammals have died in the Gulf since early June, a huge blow to the population, which is thought to be around 500 animals.
