A pedestrian was struck in a marked crosswalk in Halifax Tuesday.

At about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, Halifax Regional Police responded to the corner of Brunswick and Cornwallis Streets. A 27-yr-old pedestrian was taken to hospital by ambulance with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries after being hit by a pick-up truck.

The 45-year-old driver of the pick-up truck that hit the woman has been served a ticket for $693.95 for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and will lose four points on his license.

This is the fifth incident this week in the city, and police are reminding motorists and pedestrians to be aware of their surroundings.

This may be the 5th reported incident but since August police only report collisions where the pedestrian is transported to the hospital.

There may be other collisions that will not be reported until the monthly statistics are released.
