Charges expected after driver flees Dartmouth traffic stop

Halifax Regional Police say charges are pending against a 20-year-old man after he fled a traffic stop early Wednesday.
An officer stopped a driver on Symonds Street in Dartmouth around 2 a.m. for a traffic violation, and as he approached on foot, the driver sped off.
Within a few minutes the suspect vehicle was found empty after it struck a stop sign at Frederick Street and Woodland Avenue.
Police say further investigation determined the vehicle was stolen.
A 20-year-old man was taken into custody at an address on Lyngby avenue and police continue to investigate.
