Contractor thrown off work site on Hammonds Plains Road

The municipality has thrown a contractor off a worksite on Hammonds Plains Road.

An email obtained by News 95.7 says the contractor’s permit has been revoked, after what a city engineer called multiple violations.

Excavation at the site is said to have damaged traffic detectors, meaning signals in the area are now on automated timing.

The contractor had been working for Halifax Water, who confirms there’s been a stop work order at the site.

“HRM has issued a stop-work order at this point, and I fully expect the work will start again in the near future,” said spokesman James Campbell.

The city issued a media release Thursday morning warning drivers of lane drops in the area of Hammonds Plains Road and Kearney Lake Road.
