Attempted murder charges laid after Dartmouth break-in

Two men from the Halifax area face attempted murder charges after a violent break-in in Dartmouth.

It happened early Sunday morning at home on Bonita Drive.

A 75-year-old man woke to find two men breaking into a cabinet where he stored several firearms.

When he confronted them, he was hit over the head several times with one of his own rifles.

An anonymous tip led police to make arrests at one apartment on Bloomfield Street and another on Lacewood Drive.

Twenty-year-old Tyrone Nelson Francis and 22-year-old Eliahs Knudsen Kent face more than a dozen charges each, including attempted murder, aggravated assaulted and robbery.

The 75-year-old man is still recovering from severe, but non-life-threatening facial injuries.
