Teenager charged in Daniel Michael Pellerin homicide

Police have laid charges against a 15-year-old boy in connection with the killing of 28-year-old Daniel Michael Pellerin on Windmill Road in Dartmouth last weekend.

Officers responded to a call in a parking lot on Windmill Road, where witnesses had seen two young men assaulting Pellerin. The assailants fled, and Pellerin was left unconscious, suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Halifax Regional Police officers arrested the 15-year-old suspect on Primrose Drive in Dartmouth Thursday night, where they found him with a loaded hand gun and some marijuana. He was interviewed at police headquarters.

The boy faces more than 10 charges, including first-degree murder, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, and possession of a controlled substance.

Based on their investigation, police do not believe this is a random incident. They are looking for a second suspect, who was seen fleeing on foot dressed in dark clothing.

They ask anyone in the public with information to contact them at 902-490-5020, or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
