Man wanted on Canada-wide warrant arrested in Halifax

A man wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant has been arrested after he allegedly robbed a third store in Halifax in less than a week.

It happened just before 3p.m. Monday at the Quinpool Road Superstore.

Just like the other two robberies, police say Richard Hartlin, 38, entered the store and gave a cashier a note indicating he had a weapon and demanded cash.

Sgt. Jeff Carr tells News 95.7 Hartlin was given some money before he fled the store.

“A very short time later he was arrested with a second male on Gottingen Street,” he explains. “Both of those men will face charges in relation to yesterday’s robbery.”

Both men also face numerous weapons related charges and Hartlin will also face charges in connection with two earlier robberies.

The first robbery happened just after 7:20p.m. Wednesday evening at the Windsor Street Sobeys.

About an hour later, Hartlin failed to return for his curfew at a Halifax-area halfway house. That’s when the Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued.

On Saturday, a man believed to be Hartlin robbed the Petro Canada gas station on Herring Cove Road after handing the clerk a note and brandishing what appeared to be a gun in his waistband, and made off with some cash.

Both men will appear in Provincial Court later today.
