Car hits curb, police find handgun

A simple car accident led police to a handgun Monday morning.

Officers were called to Duffus St. and Lynch St. near Barrington in north-end Halifax at 5:48 a.m., where a car had hit the curb.

The occupants of the car had run away, but they left a can of sensory irritant inside the car.

A police dog tracked them to a nearby house where they were arrested. Police found a handgun outside the home.

Police are questioning two men, aged 18 and 25, as they consider charges.
