Man expected in court on murder charges in Truro double homicide

BIBLE HILL, N.S. – RCMP said a 47-year-old man has been charged with murder after two women were found dead at a home in Bible Hill, N.S.
Police say Gerald Rushton is facing two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 54-year-old Elizabeth MacPherson and 24-year-old Brittany MacPherson.
He’s scheduled to appear in Truro provincial court on Monday.
Officers were called to the home around 3 p.m. Friday after receiving a 911 call.
Cpl. Scott MacRae said Rushton was also at the home and was seriously injured when officers arrived.
He was arrested and taken to hospital, where he remained under police supervision until being released and charged Saturday evening.
Police have not released the causes of death and autopsies will be conducted Sunday.
