Six-year-old child, woman hit by car while crossing the street

A 27-year-old woman and a six-year-old child only have minor injuries after they were hit by a car last night.

Halifax Regional Police say at 5:20 p.m. the two were walking through a marked crosswalk in the 5100 block of Salter Street and Lower Water Street when they were hit. Police say a 28-year-old woman was issued tickets for failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk and for not having proof of valid insurance in her possesion.

The victims were treated on scene but were also taken to the QEII for further assesment, according to police.
