Police officer investigated for sexual assault

A Halifax Regional Police officer has been suspended from duty Tuesday after a sexual assault investigation by SIRT.

Police say on July 26th, they received a complaint from a woman regarding the conduct of one of their officers while he was off duty. Police turned the matter over to the Serious Incident Response Team on Friday, August 2nd, leading to the officers suspension as they investigate.

Police say they take allegations against their officers very seriously.
