Mooseheads game 6 sells out in minutes

Tickets for the moosehead semifinal game on Sunday sold out in less than 30 minutes, but diehard fans say they’ll still be watching.

Dozens of people in a lengthy lineup at the Metro Centre Thursday morning left empty-handed as new and veteran supporters snapped up seats for game 6 against Rimouski.

Demand was so high, the Metro Centre box office website crashed after about 12 minutes because of the high traffic.

Dawn tells News 95.7 she tried a couple of options for securing tickets without luck.

“I tried online and I got all the way to verifying my credit card and then the system went down,” she said. “I’ll watch it online.”

“I’ll scale the walls,” laughed longtime Mooseheads supporter Luke, moments after the tickets sold out.

The scrappy young Herd has surprised followers by clawing through two tough playoff series, coming from a 0-3 deficit to clinch the quarterfinal round against the Quebec Remparts.

They were down 0-2 against Rimouski before winning games 3 and 4 on the road to tie the semifinals.

The electrifying playoff run has brought some new fans into the fold.

“I’m from England, so this is my first experience with ice hockey,” said one new Halifax resident standing in the line on Thursday. “I’m glad they got this far, I never thought they’d get through the first round.”

Tickets to game 6 are being sold on some online sites, but buyers should be aware that they may pay a bit above face value.

Games 5 and 6 will both be carried live on News 95.7 and online at news957.com
