The name of the co-founder of McCain foods will be prominent at a new common area at the Dalhousie University Campus.
Margaret McCain, widow of Wallace McCain, is giving $8-million dollars to construct what’s being called a learning commons at Dal’s Life Sciences Centre.
“This is a place where students will gather,” said McCain. “It would give the appearance of hanging out. They will come from different disciplines, different geographic areas, different ethnic backgrounds, different religious backgrounds. This sharing is where ideas are generated, thinking is nurtured, action takes place.”
The Wallace McCain Learning Commons will offer large open workstation areas, study rooms, and offices for departmental advisors, student societies, and science co-op programs. Construction will start in April 2012.
