Ribbon cut on new mall-based military recruiting centre

Halifax’s new armed forces recruitment centre is open for business at the Mumford Professional Centre.

Nova Scotia Senator Fred Dickson cut the ribbon Tuesday at the new facility between Winners and The Bay.

“Anyone choosing a career in the Canadian Forces is making a good decision,” said Dickson. “Recruiting is meeting targets. In fact, the growth of Canadian Forces is exceeding expectations.”

Roderick Horner, 29, was one of two recruits sworn in at the inaugural ceremony.

“I’d like to travel the world. In my current job that I had, there was no way I was going to do it.” Horner’s current job? “I was actually repossessing things.”

“The fresh design, coming to all of our recruiting centers, is meant to make the Canadian Forces more competitive in the digital age,” said Commodore Daniel MacKeigan, Commander of the Canadian Forces Recruiting Group. “These new visual concepts allow Canadians to transit from our brochures to our website to any of our facilities in a seamless experience.”
