HALIFAX – The Halifax Mooseheads snapped a four game losing streak Saturday night, defeating the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 9-5 at the Scotiabank Centre.
The first period saw both teams trade goals, with Halifax’s Connor Moynihan, Benoit Olivier-Groulx and Raphael Lavoie leading the charge and giving the Herd a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes.
Halifax cushioned their lead early in the second as Maxime Fortier scored his seventh of the season, but the Screaming Eagles quickly responded to make it a one goal game.
Cape Breton would score twice more before the Herd answered back, as Filip Zadina scored his seventh of the season to make it 5-5. Justin Baron gave the Herd a 6-5 lead near the end of the second.
Joel Bishop, Zadina and Otto Somppi helped Halifax seal a 9-5 victory, ending their four game losing streak.
