Mooseheads name Jim Midgley as new head coach

HALIFAX – The Halifax Mooseheads have promoted assistant coach Jim Midgley to the position of head coach, taking over for Andre Tourigny, who resigned last week to accept a job in Ontario Hockey League.

The team made the announcement in Halifax on Tuesday afternoon.

Midgley joined The Herd as an assistant coach in 2011 and was behind the bench when the team won the Memorial Cup in 2012-2013 and also served as an assistant coach for the Saint John Sea Dogs from 2007 to 2009.

He was also the assistant coach for Team Atlantic Under 17 in 2009 and head coach of Team New Brunswick at the 2011 Canada Games in Halifax.
