Beatboxer, circus acts – all part of “Canada’s Got Talent” Toronto auditions

Citytv’s “Canada’s Got Talent” premiered coast-to-coast on Sunday.

The contestants showcased on the show’s premiere episode ranged from basketball players, fire-swallowers, a beatboxer and circus performers.

The show kicked off with the Toronto auditions, which also featured dancers and a frisbee-catching dog, as well as an introduction to the show’s three judges.

Judges Martin Short, Measha Brueggergosman and Stephan Moccio travelled to six cities across Canada to find contestants for the show, which is hosted by Citytv’s Dina Pugliese.

Short said being a judge can be very daunting.

“You see this brilliant 14-year-old who isn’t going to make the contest but they’re good, so you can’t take them to the next round, but you don’t want to discourage them. It’s tricky,” Short said.

But what Moccio enjoyed the most were the stories.

“You’re gonna laugh, you’re gonna cry because there are some really heartfelt, heartwarming stories,” Moccio said.

Brueggergosman said this show is about going for your dream.

“It’s still very difficult to get up on that stage in front of hundreds of people and make that leap. We want to celebrate that,” she said.

The grand prize is $100,000.
