Stolen car flips onto its roof and lands on Stadacona Base property

HALIFAX – Investigators say charges are pending after a two-car crash in Halifax sent two people to hospital.

Halifax Regional Police responded to the crash at 11:09 p.m. Saturday night at the intersection of Almon Street and Gottingen Street.

Police say one of the cars involved flipped onto its roof.

The vehicle had gone through the intersection at a high rate of speed, according to police, hit a fence going airborne then flipping and landing on the Stadacona Base property.

Although the investigation is ongoing, police say they have learned the vehicle involved in the collision had been stolen by someone after he assaulted the owner. The two were known to each other.

The 27-year-old-man faces six charges including theft of a motor vehicle and assault causing bodily harm and will appear in court tomorrow morning.

The two individuals sent to the hospital were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
