Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,588.02 down 148.90 points):

TORC Oil and Gas Ltd. (TSX:TOG). Oil and gas. Down two cents, or 1.20 per cent, at $1.65 on eight million shares. The energy sector was down 1.78 per cent to 254.22 points as the price of crude oil fell 36 cents to US$107.10 a barrel.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down 45 cents, or 13.24 per cent, at $2.95 on 6.78 million shares. The Vancouver-based company said it will launch a private offering of US$225 million of convertible senior subordinate notes due in 2018. The net proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down 22 cents, or 3.59 per cent, at $5.91 on 6.15 million shares. Kinross said the strike at its Tasiast mine in Mauritania had ended and that workers returned to their jobs on Monday. Kinross said the strike’s impact on gold production had been “minimal” and was not expected to negatively impact production guidance.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Down seven cents, or 0.35 per cent, at $19.94 on 3.58 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 10 cents, or 0.86 per cent, at $11.74 on 3.54 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (933.65 down 6.59 points):

Intertainment Media Inc. (TSXV:INT). Marketing. Up 5.5 cents, or 100 per cent, at 11 cents on 14.36 million shares.

Sirona Biochem Corp. (TSXV:SBM). Drug developer. Up 2.5 cents, or 20.83 per cent, at 14.5 cents on 6.95 million shares. The Vancouver-based company signed a licensing agreement with China’s Wanbang Pharma to develop and commercialize Sirona’s SGLT2 Inhibitor, a diabetes drug, in China. The deal is pegged at US$9.5 million.

Companies reporting major news:

BlackBerry (TSX:BB). Wireless communications. Down 16 cents, or 1.47 per cent, at $10.70 on 2.04 million shares. The smartphone pioneer is losing market share in most parts of the world but will remain a global player, according to a study by U.K.-based Juniper Research. The study also said that Android devices had overtaken sales of Apple’s iPhone globally by a wide margin.

TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP). Pipeline. Down 81 cents, or 1.74 per cent, at $45.70 on 755,302 shares. The Calgary-based company is suing the gas distribution business of rival Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB) over its decision to end an agreement signed in January that would see the two firms co-operate on a 23-kilometre stretch of natural gas pipeline in the Greater Toronto Area. Enbridge’s stock was down 69 cents, or 1.58 per cent, at $42.92 on 728,788 shares.
