Weather statements and warnings issued for Nova Scotia

By Meghan Groff

A trough of low pressure will arrive in the Maritimes Friday.

Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for all counties in Nova Scotia, including Halifax.

They say rain will turn to snow as the temperature plummets and slippery conditions are possible.

They don't expect a lot of snowfall, but gusty northwest winds will be a factor.

The portion of Halifax County east of Porters Lake, along with the Eastern Shore and Cape Breton are all under a rainfall warning.

Environment Canada says up to 40 millimetres of rain could fall in those locations, and localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
