Box spring and jumpsuit among items collected from McNabs

Hundreds of coffee cups and plastic tampon applicators along with a lot of other garbage filled 450 bags of trash collected from the shores of McNabs Island yesterday.

The McNabs island Facebook page says some of the more unique items collected this year include a jumpsuit, a copper lined toilet tank and a box spring.

Divers also pulled a tire from a Model T out of the water.

One person even found an old bottle A. S. Hinds Honey & Almond hand cream with a cork stopper still intact.

The bulk of the items were plastics and pieces of Styrofoam.

Around 250 volunteers participated in for the annual clean up.

Since 1991, over 12,450 bags of garbage and recyclables have been removed from the Provincial Park’s beaches.
