East Coast Lifestyle CEO visits White House

It’s been a big week for East Coast Lifestyle CEO Alex MacLean.

He announced plans to open the company’s first store, which will be located near the Seaport Farmers’ Market.

He graduated with a marketing degree from Acadia University, and MacLean just got back from Washington D.C., where he was invited to the White House to see U.S. President Barack Obama speak.

“It was a very good experience, I was really proud to be there, and it was really cool to hear him talk 5-feet away from me about entrepreneurship,” said MacLean. “There were only 45 people there, so it was very interactive and close.”

Part of East Coast Lifestyle’s marketing success has been getting celebrities, including Sidney Crosby, to wear the hoodies and t-shirts, and MacLean hopes he can get President Obama sporting the anchor logo.

“I got a hoodie to his right-hand man and a little note, so I’m hoping that that will come back through social media one day with a photo, but you always just have to hope for the best,” he said.

MacLean got the White House invite after being finishing second in the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards.
