Disciplinary hearing set to resume for Dalhousie dentistry student

HALIFAX – The lawyer for a dentistry student linked to a Facebook page containing sexually violent postings says a disciplinary hearing will resume today at Dalhousie University.

Bruce MacIntosh said in an email that his client will return to the hearing after he asked for an adjournment last week over complaints that it was unfair.

The academic standards committee is looking into Ryan Millet’s role in the private page that contained misogynistic content about his female classmates at Dalhousie.

The school stripped him and 12 other male fourth-year students of clinical duties and put them in separate classes after the postings came to light in December.

MacIntosh says that even though Millet helped expose the Facebook page, he was stripped of the clinic privileges and is facing disciplinary measures for alleged unprofessional conduct.

In a letter to the school’s senate, MacIntosh says he wants the committee to reinstate Millet’s clinical privileges and restore his academic record.
