Jimmy Melvin Jr. in court after wild night

Notorious Halifax criminal Jimmy Melvin Jr. and three others face multiple charges after a wild Wednesday night in Highfield Park.

“An individual was abducted and held for a time at gunpoint by at least one other individual,” says Cst. Brian Palmeter with Halifax police.

“He was able to escape and was later caught again where he was assaulted repeatedly. As a result of the investigation we’ve arrested four individuals.”

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the three men involved fled across Highway 111 into Burnside where he was tackled by an officer. Police identify the suspect as Jimmy Melvin Jr..

“He was to appear in court today to face charges of kidnapping, extortion, assault with a weapon, threats, a number of weapons-related charges and breach of conditions,” says Palmeter.

A 24-year-old Fall River man and a 26-year-old Halifax man face charges of kidnapping, assault with a weapon and threats. Natalie Catherine Digioacchino, 28, faces charges of kidnapping and extortion.
