Argentine Elvis Presley impersonator tours country with concerts to promote new Elvis film

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – John McInerny, an Argentine architect and part-time Elvis Presley impersonator, plays — what else? — an Elvis impersonator in a new movie touring film festivals.

McInerny has the role of a character named Carlos Gutierrez in the Argentine film “The Last Elvis,” which premiered earlier this year.

To promote the film, director Armando Bo’s first feature, McInerny has temporarily set aside his career as an architect to tour Argentina in his glittery Las Vegas-style costumes and perform with his band, Elvis Lives.

The movie was written by its director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, along with Bo and Nicolas Giacobone, two of the credited screenwriters of the feature film “Biutiful.”
