A Halifax man has been charged in connection to counterfeit American bills circulating the area.
According to police a number of businesses reported the fake bills earlier this month, including a Halifax gas station, a financial institution in Dartmouth, and a Tantallon business where a made had made a transaction using 10 counterfeit twenty dollar American bills.
Yesterday morning police made an arrest after conducting a traffic stop in the 600 block of St. Margaret’s Bay Road.
26 year old Jordan James Hirtle of Halifax has been charged with five counts of possession of counterfeit money and five counts of using counterfeit money.
Constable Dianne Penfound with Regional Police said they are still investigating three other cases involving counterfeit money.
