Province announces Bayers Lake donation centre for refugees

As the country gets ready to welcome thousands of Syrian refugees, the Nova Scotia government has announced a donation centre will be opening for those who wish to give what they can to our new neighbours.

Immigration minister Lena Diab said the Bayers Lake Business Park drop-off centre has been donated by Armco Capital and Rank Inc.

Those who have called 211 to offer donations will get a voicemail asking them to bring their items at the new centre, which opens this Saturday.

Diab said the province can take up to 1,500 refugees but the exact number we will receive is still not known.

A list of what is needed, along with the drop-off centre’s location and hours can be found on the province’s website.
