Megan Leslie joins WWF-Canada

WWF-Canada has announced that former Halifax MP Megan Leslie has joined its ocean’s team in a senior advisory role.

WWF’s oceans program currently works in the arctic, atlantic and pacific oceans, and works to conserve and protect areas for marine mammals and other species.

“I am pleased to be joining WWF-Canada,” said Leslie in a release.

“I have always fought to ensure opportunity for people from all walks of life, and environmental issues have been a passion for me since high school. WWF-Canada’s approach to conservation will give me an opportunity to continue this work in many areas of Canada, by helping to build community resilience and economic strength, while doing the right things for our environment.”

David Miller, president and CEO of WWF-Canada says Leslie has a deep background in serving the needs of communities and is “is uniquely placed to help us achieve success in our work on marine planning, sustainable fishing, the protection of ocean biodiversity, and habitat friendly renewable energy.”

Leslie’s initial appointment will begin in june 2016 where she’ll assist in the implementation of the organization’s new five year plan.
