One man sent to hospital after drive-by shooting in North Preston

A man was rushed to hospital Thursday night after what police are calling a drive-by shooting in North Preston.

RCMP officers responded to the call around 9:30 P.M. after a someone called 911 reporting that a number of shots had been fired.

RCMP sergeant Alain Leblanc says when officer arrived they found a 27 year old man that had been wounded in the foot, but luckily no one else had been hit by the hail of bullets.

“He was taken by ambulance to the Dartmouth General Hospital and the extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.”  says Leblanc.

Police indicate that a large group of people were standing outside of a resident on Churchill Terrace when a vehicle approached and someone started firing.

“We are in the early stages of our investigation.”  says Leblanc “If the public has any information, call us.”

Leblanc says it’s too early to say if the shooting was random in nature.
