Sprinkler issues close art gallery building

Portions of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in Halifax were closed on Tuesday due to problems with the sprinkler system in one of the gallery’s buildings.

The gallery issued a release saying its permanent and temporary exhibitions in the gallery north building won’t be open while the system is repaired.

A spokeswoman for the gallery said none of the collections were damaged.

Donna Wellard says that the gallery received a directive from the Nova Scotia fire marshal’s office to fix the system.

She said that by today the gallery hoped to have an estimate of how long it will take to fix the system and what it will cost.
