Man in custody after police pursuit

HALIFAX – A 31-year-old man from Dartmouth is in custody and faces a number of charges after an arrest Thursday morning following a police pursuit on Highway 102.

RCMP say shortly after 11 a.m., officers tried to pull over a speeding vehicle travelling southbound on 102 after receiving reports that the driver may have been impaired.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, and at one point side-swiped a police vehicle. He then turned off onto Exit 6 onto Bell Blvd and appeared headed toward Halifax Stanfield International Airport, but couldn’t get through the area due to construction.

Police say they were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the driver as he was attempting to turn around to get back onto the highway.

Police say there were no injuries to the either the suspect or officers but add the investigation is ongoing.
