Sea Dogs hand Mooseheads seventh straight loss in 5-3 win

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The Halifax Mooseheads lost their seventh straight game as the Saint John Sea Dogs defeated the Herd 5-3 at Harbour Station on Saturday night.

Halifax got off to a great start giving up only one goal, while Otto Somppi scored twice to give the Herd a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

The Sea Dogs would eventually take control in the second period scoring four unanswered goals to propel them to a 5-2 lead after two periods.

Raphael Lavoie scored midway in the third period to shorten Saint John’s lead, but it wasn’t enough, as the Sea Dogs handed the struggling Mooseheads their seventh consecutive defeat.

On Wednesday, the Mooseheads return to the Scotiabank Centre to welcome the Charlottetown Islanders.
