Hischier shines in return as Mooseheads dominate Wildcats 6-2

HALIFAX – Nico Hischier shined in his return to the Halifax Mooseheads lineup, as the Herd dominate the Moncton Wildcats in a 6-2 victory Friday night at the Scotiabank Centre.

The Mooseheads came out swinging, as Frédéric Aubé, Maxime Fortier, and Raphaël Lavoie each scored to propel the Herd to an early 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Halifax would give up two goals in the second period with Moncton’s Julien Tessier and Alexandre Renaud scoring 21 seconds apart to close the gap.

But before long, Hischier, fresh off his impressive performance at the World Junior Hockey Tournament, lit the lamp at 13:06 of the second, giving Halifax a 4-2 lead.

Halifax put the finishing touches in the final period, as Arnaud Durandeau and Hischier, with his second of the night, each scored to give the Mooseheads the 6-2 win.

On Saturday, the Herd gets set to welcome the Saint John Sea Dogs to the Scotiabank Centre.
