Halifax to host Elite Canada Gymnastics Championships 2017

HALIFAX — Nova Scotia will once host Elite Canada Gymnastics Championships.

The event will be held at the Canada Games Centre from February 2nd to 5th, 2017.

Angela Gallant, Executive Director of Gymnastics Nova Scotia, says the championships will bring economic spin off to Halifax during a relatively quiet month.

She adds Ellie Black of the Halifax Gymnastics Club has brought the spotlight of the sport to the city and hopes that this event will be inspirational for current gymnasts and those looking to get into the sport.

“It’s nice for those gymnasts to be able to see Ellie compete as they don’t usually get that opportunity. Normally when she is competiting she is somewhere else in Canada or international. So to be able to compete in front of the atheletes at her club (and other local clubs) it’s really inspiring for them to be able to watch and see what she does – it’s really neat.”

Last year, the sold out event saw nearly 20 Nova Scotia gymnasts participated in the event.

Tickets go on sale December first at www.gymns.ca
