As we near the halfway point of the Sochi 2014 Winter games, speculation is ramping up about who could carry the flag for Canada during the closing ceremony.
Moguls master Alexandre Bilodeau is a candidate after winning gold in men’s moguls. He also won gold at Vancouver 2010.
680News reporter Jaime Pulfer spoke to Bilodeau from Sochi. He said he’s leaving the Games to head home to Montreal on Sunday. He then flies out to Japan for a World Cup event, but said he would happily adjust his schedule to represent Canada.
“I’m sure there’s so many athletes that will have the chance to receive that call. But, if I am the lucky guy, I’ll probably jump in the plane and go to Japan, but by Sochi, so it’s going to be a big detour but it’s the biggest honour somebody could have,” Bilodeau said.
Bilodeau thinks Gilmore Junio, the speedskater who gave up his spot to silver medal winner Denny Morrison, is also a good candidate to carry the flag.
