Canucks expected to have Henrik in lineup at Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks resume their four-game road trip in Philadelphia tonight in the only meeting between the two teams this season.  Canucks Captain Henrik Sedin is expected to play despite suffering a thigh injury in their win over Columbus Monday.

Forward Marco Sturm will also be in the lineup despite battling a hand problem.  Both Sedin and Sturm were on the ice this morning for the game day skate.

The Canucks beat Philadelphia 6-2 in Vancouver last season in their only meeting of 2010-11 but the Flyers have rebuilt in the offseason, have started the season with two straight victories and are considered by many to be one of the favourites to come out of the East in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Vancouver will go back to Roberto Luongo in goal after Cory Schneider led the Canucks to victory in Columbus two nights ago.  Luongo will face new Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, who was signed in free agency in the offseason.  The former Phoenix Coyote has been sharp in the Flyers’ first two games, stopping 42 of 43 shots.

The Flyers revamped roster includes the addition of veteran winger Jaromir Jagr this summer.  The 39-year-old Jagr, who won two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins, is expected to bolster the Flyers’ powerplay.

The Canucks’s have enjoyed playing in Philadelphia in recent years. Vancouver has not lost in Philadelphia since 2003.  Game time is 4:30 p.m.
