Body of Cpl. Brian Pinksen arrives at CFB Trenton for repatriation ceremony

CFB TRENTON, Ont. - A military plane carrying the body of the latest Canadian soldier to die during the Afghan mission arrived this afternoon at CFB Trenton, in eastern Ontario.

Cpl. Brian Pinksen was wounded by a roadside bomb during a routine patrol southwest of Kandahar on Aug. 22.

He died at a hospital in Germany on Monday.

Pinksen, a member of 2nd Battalion with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, was based in Corner Brook, N.L.

His body will travel along the Highway of Heroes to the coroner's office in Toronto.

A total of 152 Canadian soldiers have died as part of the Afghan mission since it began in 2002.
