Apartment fire suspicious in nature: police

Doug Cogswell Sep 02, 2010 06:49:05 AM
Police say an apartment fire on Dartmouth's Queen Street was likely deliberately set.

Firefighters were called to the apartment at 88 Queen around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived they could see flames coming from a second floor unit.

Police spokesman Brian Palmeter tells the Herald evidence gathered at the scene indicates the fire is suspicious.

A man quoted at the scene claims someone threw a Molotov cocktail through the window of the unit.

Close to 30 people had to be evacuated. Most were let back in after the fire was put out.
