Thirty tenants forced to flee apartment building fire

Ruth Davenport Sep 01, 2010 05:51:25 AM
Regional fire investigators are working to figure out the cause of a fire at a Dartmouth apartment building.

Platoon Chief Gary McCurdy tells News 95.7 the call came in just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning about a fire at the three-story building on Queen Street.

McCurdy says the fire was mainly confined to an apartment on the second floor.

"There was fire damage to the unit of origin, slight water damage below," he said. "Other than that, limited smoke damage throughout the building."

Thirty people were evacuated, but McCurdy says most tenants were able to return to their homes.
